My Platform
For a thriving Tennessee
Living Wage
A living wage means that Tennesseans who work 40 hours a week should be able to afford rent, utilities, and groceries. I will fight to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour and protect workers’ rights, including their right to union representation.
Healthcare Reform
Healthcare reform means that people will have access to healthcare without having to choose between prescriptions and groceries. I will fight to expand ACA and Medicaid in Tennessee.
No Tennessean should have to choose between essential healthcare needs and feeding their family.
Access to Higher Education
Access to higher education means that people will not be restricted from higher education on the basis of income. I will fight to expand the Drive to 55 initiative, to include up to 4 years of free tuition at a state college or university.
Speaking of education...
⏺ Tennessee’s public schools should be fully funded.
⏺ High-stakes testing costs millions of dollars and hours of instruction time each year.
⏺ ESA/Vouchers remove tax dollars from schools that serve all students and funnel them into organizations that can pick and choose who they serve.
Reproductive Rights
No politician should tell anyone what they can do with their body. People should have access to family planning education, contraceptives, and safe, legal abortion.
Never again should a Tennessean be permanently injured, maimed, of killed at the hands of back alley butchers. Abortion bans don't stop abortion; they only stop safe abortions. If we truly want to reduce the number of abortions, we must increase education regarding family planning and make contraceptives more easily accessible.
Vaccine Transparency
Vaccines save lives. I believe in the need to immunize against deadly diseases. I also believe that people need to be aware of what they are putting in their bodies. As scientists rush to create a Covid-19 vaccine, I want to make sure that pharmaceutical industry is transparent with the ingredients so that we can all be a safer, healthier people.
